As important as our relationships are, they are not always easy! Compassion for Couples (CfC) is a program designed to help us meet ourselves and our partner with greater awareness and compassion. CfC builds on the skills developed in the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program and moves deeper into compassion between partners. Utilizing the skills of mindfulness and compassion, this program teaches how to build a strong and healthy foundation for relationships, and provides skills to help navigate the difficulties that arise within us and between us. While prior experience with MSC is helpful, it is not required.

Partners attend together and will learn to:
Gain a greater understanding of yourself, your partner, and shared relational patterns
Be more present with each other
Identify shared values
Build a base of warmth, security and connection.
Communicate with kindness and compassion

Skillfully relate to your partner in times of difficulty
Pittman McGehee, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Austin, Texas. Pittman received his doctorate from The University of Texas, Austin where he researched self-compassion and mindfulness with Dr. Kristin Neff. He has worked as a psychologist with individuals of all ages and trained in many different environments. Prior to working in private practice, he worked and trained at the Austin Psychology and Assessment Center, the Capital Area Mental Health Center, and the Travis County Correctional Complex. He also trained at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center, where he worked with individual students and co-led several groups, including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy groups for depressed students. Dr. McGehee is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher and teacher trainer and is currently adjunct faculty at Seton Cove Spirituality Center in Austin, Texas.
Michelle Becker is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in San Diego, utilizing mindfulness and compassion based approaches to psychotherapy. In addition she is a certified teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion, Compassion Cultivation Training, and The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ programs. Michelle is a senior teacher trainer, mentor, and co-founder of the teacher-training program in Mindful Self-Compassion. She teaches and speaks on the topics of compassion for self and others nationally and internationally, especially in regard to relationships, healthcare, and the workplace.
