This is a teacher-led intensive silent retreat steeped in mindfulness and compassion practices. Structured with the rigor of an Insight Meditation retreat (sitting and walking meditation) however the languaging, teaching, and practices will be in a secular manner, drawn from Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR). The philosophy of mindful self-compassion will be woven throughout the retreat in both what we are doing and how we are working with the retreat experience. We will work extensively with the self-inquiry, “what do I need right now?”. Deepen your ability to be present with yourself just as you are, with kindness and care with expert guidance by experienced retreat leaders. Participants will also be nourished by a natural tropical environment and wholesome, organic meals. Body-oriented practices include mindful yoga, gentle chi-gong, and sense and savor walk in the tropic gardens offered once each per day.All gender-identified women are welcome!
The all-inclusive fee includes:
Teacher-led 7-day silent retreat with guided and silent sitting and walking meditation, mindful movement/gentle yoga/qigong, body scan, lovingkindness meditation, other compassion practices and teaching periods
Individual and group inquiry sessions/interviews with the teacher to support and deepen your practice
Intensive silence–Sharing will only be during the opening and closing circle and the group and individual interviews with the teacher
Daily “Sense and Savor” walks in the tropic garden and opportunity to practice walking meditation in nature, practice seeing meditation
Seven nights lodging in comfortable, climate controlled rooms with new beds
Three wholesome organic meals a day; vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available
Exclusive use of a retreat center dedicated to meditation and silent practice
120 acres of tropical gardens and trails to support your outdoor silent mindfulness practice
Additional days for self-retreat or R&R are available by booking directly with GRC
Fulfills the silent retreat requirement for professional training in MBSR and MBCT (through the UCSD MBPTI and Toronto MBCT training program), MSC (through the CMSC) and in mindfulness (through the MMTCP). For other mindfulness training programs, inquire for elgibility.
Early bird all-inclusive fees are $970 (double or triple room); $1295 (single); $825 for bringing your own tent or own RV for 7 days. Fees increase by $150 after April 30, 2019. These fees *DO* include the teacher’s fees/tuition, room and 3 meals a day.
Regular fees apply after April 30, 2019 for 7 days (non-early bird) all-incusive fees are $1120 double, $1445 single, $975 tent or own RV.
All-inclusive fees include all teaching, 7-nights accomodations, and three wholesome, organic meals a day–21 in total.
To register: Choose your level of accommodations and pay either the $500 deposit or in full on the “to register page” by major credit card. Once registered, you will recieve an email confirmation. More information regarding the retreat and meal preferences, etc. will be sent out around December 1st.
Deposit due of $500 to hold your space or pay the early bird rate (which includes deposit) . All fees due by October 30th. Please note: In order to get the early bird rate you must PAY IN FULL by June 30th.
Refund minus $100 is available if you cancel in writing before October 30th.

Retreat begins Friday December 27, 2019 – Registration will begin around 3pm on Fri Dec 27th. Dinner will be served around 6pm. The first retreat session will begin around 7:30pm. If you are unable to arrive by 6:00, please make arrangements for dinner en route or call ahead to have food held aside for you.
Sample Daily Schedule for full days, Sat – Thursday: The entire retreat is held in silence except for opening and closing on the first and last day
7:15am Mindful Gentle Yoga with Trish
8:00 am Breakfast – Mindful eating and daily yogi job/everyday mindfulness (generally 15 – 20 minutes)
9:30 – 12 Guided meditations (sitting, individual walking) and teaching on mindfulness and self-compassion by Trish
12:00pm Lunch mindful eating and unstructured self-guided practice time on the property/rest
2pm – 5pm Silent sitting meditation; Gentle Chi Gong by Nancy; group sense and savor walking/seeing meditation led by Nancy/Trish and loving kindness/compassion meditation led by Trish. This is also when the inquiry/sharing groups and individual inquiry meetings with Trish will take place on some of the days.
5 -6pm Self-guided silent practice time on the property/rest
6:00pm Dinner mindful eating and self-guided silent practice time on the property/rest
7:30 – 9:30pm Guided meditations (sitting, body scan, individual walking) and teaching on mindfulness and self-compassion by Trish
9:30pm End of guided program, meditation hall open
Travel: If you are flying into Orlando or JAX, please plan to arrive in FL by 2pm to include time from airports. It is approx 2 hours to either JAX or Orlando airports and slightly longer to Tampa. Airport-to-airport transport or directly to the GRC is available by airport shuttle companies from all major airports. The Gainesville airport, Gainesville bus station, and Amtrak shuttle stop are all approx 15 mins to the GRC. Downtown Gainesville is approx 10 minutes. Uber and Lift are readily available from all these locations. Please email Trish if you need more info in order to plan your travel (see Gainesville retreat center for basic information).
Retreat ends Friday January 3, 2020 with lunch. The silent retreat portion will end with a closing circle at approx noon. Lunch is included. Please plan to stay through noon if at all possible; plan for return flights no earlier than 3:30pm.
Why this retreat center? I’ve chosen Gainesville Retreat Center for its light-filled and modern meditation hall; comfort in all seasons (heat and AC in all rooms); high quality fresh organic food with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options at all meals; beautiful, natural setting with miles of hiking trails on the property; dedication to meditation retreats; and affordable cost. We’ll be the only group on-site. Everything about the center and the teaching will support your retreat and self-care. Plus–winter in sunny Florida!
Please note however that the retreat center is a comfortable Mom and Pop facility but it is not a spa nor is it 5-star. Spa amenities like massage therapy are not available nor is there a large staff. Please make any special requirements or requests known in advance so we can best advise you on how much they can be accommodated. Attendees will need to take responsibility for last minute requests or bring what they need (such as the need for a particular tea, hand soap or lotion).
Note: This silent retreat is *not* appropriate for those in a current mental health crisis, those with unresolved trauma or with serious untreated or unregulated mental health conditions. It is an excellent option for serious mindfulness and/or self-compassion practitioners (those with previous silent retreat experience); MBSR or MSC graduates; or those in a mindfulness or self-compassion teaching training track.
