Course Navigation

The Mindful Self Compassion Course (MSC) consists of 8 weekly sessions of 2.75 hours and a day retreat.  Each session will include time for meditations, short talks, experiential exercises and group discussions, all of which are designed to help you cultivate a kinder and more supportive relationship with yourself.

During the 8 weeks, you will have many opportunities to directly experience self compassion.  You will learn practices that will evoke self compassion in your daily life so that in times of difficulty, rather than criticising yourself or ignoring your feelings, you will be able to rely on a compassionate and understanding response from yourself.

You will be given guided MP3 self compassion and mindfulness meditations to practice at home each day and handouts to support the learning from each session.

The course will enable you to:

•  Practice self compassion in daily life
•  Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism
•  Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
•  Transform challenging relationships – old & new
•  Manage care giver fatigue
•  Practice the art of savouring & self appreciation

This course will be led by Gayle Creasey who will be supported by MSC teacher in training John Quill.   I am delighted that John and I, as a team, will be able to offer both a male and female perspective on what it is be self-compassionate which I think will be of great value to the group especially couples who may like to attend together.

John attended the eight week mindfulness based cognitive therapy course (MBCT) with me in 2015 and has subsequently trained to teach mindfulness in schools with the Mindfulness in Schools Project, attended the 8 week mindful self-compassion course (MSC) with me in 2016 and completed MSC teacher training in 2017.

As you can see from John’s commitment to exploring and training in mindfulness, he has found it to be a great support in his life.   Day to day, John greatly values his morning MSC practice which sets him up for whatever the day may hold and especially for his pastoral care and mindfulness work in a local school.  John has also been deeply involved in working with other men through the Mankind Project and he believes MSC can bring something really powerful for men as well as for women.
