I will be teaching an 8-Week Mindful Self Compassion class, beginning on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 from 4:30-7 PM at the OM Studio in Laguna Beach. The class series will end on Thursday, June 28th (and skip Thursday, May 17th). Missing a class or two is not a problem, given the Weekly Recaps and Homework Exercises.
Each of the 2.5 hour sessions (and our 4-hour retreat) during our 8 weeks together will include meditation, brief talks, experiential exercises and group discussion – all designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion.
The cost for the class series is $600 (a sliding fee is available for those who need it). The class series includes a weekly Recap and a Mindful Self Compassion Workbook.
MSC’s empirically-supported training program will teach you core principles and practices. While MSC is not psychotherapy (the emphasis of MSC is on building emotional resources rather than addressing old wounds), positive changes occur naturally as one begins to develop the capacity to be with oneself in a kinder, more compassionate way.
Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, less anxiety, depression and stress. And self-compassion, even for those of us with a harsh inner critic, is easier to learn than you might think.
Self-compassion is simply compassion directed inwards, and MSC, through exercises and discussion, teaches us how to hold ourselves with tenderness and self-compassion when we need it most – when we fail, when we feel inadequate and are suffering.
Too often we tend to meet pain and challenge with harshness and self-criticism. Self-compassion allows us, instead, to be present and courageous in the face of physical and emotional pain rather than fighting it or turning away from it.
There are spaces available in the class, so if you know of someone who may be interested, it is time to ACT NOW by contacting me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
