The Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you” is universal in faith traditions world-wide.
Yet there is little training in “as you would have done unto you.” This program teaches a way to treat ourselves consciously, kindly, without criticism or judgment. It takes eight weeks, because it requires time and repetition, just as physical exercise does.
On Saturday mornings from September 21 to November 16, 2019, at First Congregational Church UCC — 2345 Channing Way, Berkeley CA — there will be an eight week series of 2.5-hour sessions, plus a half-day silent retreat after session #5.
MSC provides deep experiential exercises and research information, to enhance mindful awareness, kindness to self and others, and connection to our common humanity. We build from the natural compassion inside each of us, that deepens with practice. We re-examine old beliefs and habits, and experiment with new ones.
And empirical studies show that it “works” — to strengthen the immune system, to improve personal relationships, to enhance well-being, and to relieve the symptoms for stress in our culture, including depression, anxiety and caregiver burnout.
Registration required, Limit of 20 participants. Full event flyer here: http://firstchurchberkeley.org/mindful
