Following the established protocol developed by Drs. Kristen Neff and Chris Germer, Lisa Patterson Raterman, BSN, RN and Charlene Ray, LCSW lead students on an 8 week course of self discovery. Learning to treat ourselves as we may naturally treat others when they suffer, fail or feel inadequate. This on-line 2 /12 hour program meets weekly for 8 weeks. In our time together we experience and practice boots on the ground techniques to embrace our innate goodness and to thrive. Based on empirical data, Drs. Neff and Germer have written and refined this 8 week program to learn and dwell in a space of compassion towards oneself. MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, providing a powerful tool for emotional resilience. Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being. It boost happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can help maintain healthy life-style habits such as diet and exercise.
