Following the established protocol developed by Drs. Kristen Neff and Chris Germer, Lisa Patterson Raterman, BSN, RN and Charlene Ray, LCSW will lead students on an 8 week course of self discovery. Learning to treat ourselves as we may naturally treat others when they suffer, fail or feel inadequate. This on-line 2 1/2 hour program meets weekly for 8 weeks. In our time together we experience and practice scientifically proven techniques to embrace our innate goodness and to ultimately thrive. Based on empirical data, Drs. Neff and Germer have written and refined this 8 week program to learn to dwell in a space of compassion towards oneself. MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, providing a powerful tool for emotional resilience. Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being. MSC boost happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can help maintain healthy life-style habits such as diet and exercise
