An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until June 26, 2019
The Training: In the eight experiential evening sessions, participants learn both formal and informal practices for cultivation of self-compassion and share the joys and struggles of this journey and adventure with others. The half-day retreat towards the end of the training is an opportunity to deepen into and embody the practices in community with one another. In this training for professionals, the emphasis will be on the cultivation and nurturing of our own self-compassion. However, because we are all helping/health professionals, we may also have common experiences to share related to our professional lives, in which compassion is essential not only to maintain equanimity and kindness towards ourselves but also to serve our clients and patients. This training for includes an optional extra (ninth) session to discuss practical and personal aspects of self-compassion related to our professional lives and work. A wide range of helping professionals are invited, including (and not limited to) psychotherapists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, yoga teachers, mindfulness teachers, etc.
The Trainer: I’m a psychologist, workshop facilitator, and trained teacher of Mindful Self Compassion (MSC). I completed the original MSC training in 2013, and the teacher training in 2015. The practices of self-compassion have had a tremendous positive impact on both my personal and professional worlds, and I love to share them with others. This will be my fourth MSC training for professionals.
The Environment: Location: A comfortable, cozy office in southwest Portland. Beverages and snacks are provided.
