An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on [day], repeating indefinitely
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported, 8-week training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding.
Designed by Dr. Christopher Germer and Dr. Kristin Neff, the research has been exploding the last ten years showing a strong link between self-compassion and less negative emotions (anxiety, anger, frustration, stress, depression) and, at the same time, the strong development of more positive emotions (relationship satisfaction, healthier lifestyle behaviours, increased happiness and overall wellbeing.
Program activities include meditation, short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and home practices. The goal is for participants to directly experience self-compassion and learn practices that evoke self-compassion in daily life. Each week participants will learn new practices and meditations that will contribute to their own personal Self-Compassion toolkit. You will learn how to be there for yourself – how to have your own back emotionally – when you are stressed and suffering.
Program includes 24 hours of instruction starting Monday, Sept 25th and continuing for 8 weeks until November 20th (skipping Oct 9th for Thanksgiving). Also included a half day silent retreat on Sunday November 5th, 2017.
The Centre for Compassion Inspired Health has skilled facilitators who are Trained Teachers of Mindful Self-Compassion. We have been teaching mindfulness and self-compassion programs in the Nanaimo area for a number of years. Please check out our website for testimonials from past participants.

“Thanks so much again for the wonderful course. You are both very talented facilitators and the event felt seamless to me because of your hospitality and skill. The tools taught are incredibly powerful and I only wish I had encountered them earlier in life, both personally and professionally! The Bethlehem Centre was a wonderful venue …Sheila Fetter”
