Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being, but you might ask what is it? And how do I develop it?
Self-compassion is a skill we can learn and keep on developing for the rest of our lives. This 8 session course is co-taught by two trained MSC teachers and breaks down its components into a step by step learning process.
Firstly, using mindful presence, we gently turn towards the often painful patterns of self-blame, criticism and sense of inadequacy we carry. Often, we are hardly aware of these at first; then in the supportive environment of the group, we explore the universal nature of these ways of thinking and acting and how to relate to them differently.
We also attend to the often deep-seated resistances to making these changes and explore various different practices for starting to treat ourselves with kindness, caring and compassion. Past course participants have appreciated the variety of practices and you are encouraged to find those that are most helpful for you.
