MSC is an empirically supported, 8-week (plus ½ day silent retreat) training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. It is based on groundbreaking research of Kristen Neff Ph.D. and clinical expertise of Christopher Germer Ph.D., and teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care, and understanding. The three components of self-compassion are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness. Together they provide a state of warm-hearted, connected presence. It can be learned by anyone. It requires no previous training in Mindful meditation.
