Self-compassion is being kind to yourself as you would be to your closest friends or loved ones, especially when you’re stressed or upset. For most of us, it doesn’t come as easily as we might expect. Being hard on ourselves may seem necessary to succeed in life, but studies suggest just the opposite: self-compassion is a productive and healthier way to motivate ourselves than self-criticism. A growing body of research indicates that self-compassion has many benefits, including happiness, resilience, creativity, and satisfying relationships, while experiencing less anxiety and depression.
This Zoom session introduces basic concepts, science, and practice of self-compassion as well as Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), an evidenced-based training program. The presentation is free and open to anyone – there is no obligation to enroll in our 6-week MSC course.
