https://self-compassion.org/the-program into 8 workshop and days, one whole day silent retreat and one exploratory day: applying the tools in the wider world.
Successful Completion of this course fulfils a prerequisite for the MSC Teacher Training.
This is a Ten Day residential Course, where you can learn practical skills to cultivate Self-Compassion and Mindfulness in Your Everyday Life.
Research shows that Self-Compassion combined with Mindfulness can greatly enhance emotional wellbeing and change the way the brain rewires in response to Life’s challenges. They have been linked to an increase in life satisfaction, happiness, optimism, creativity, and gratitude.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) can help us maintain healthy lifestyle habits such as diet and exercise as it motivates us through kindness. During times of difficulty it provides emotional strength and resilience, helping us to reduce stress and anxiety.
MSC is an empirically supported secular programme, based on the ground breaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Chris Germer. In this 10 Day course we cover the whole of the original MSC 8 week programme that is internationally recognized:
An explosion of research into Self-Compassion over the last decade has shown its benefits for well-being. This is an opportunity to explore how we typically respond when difficulties arise in our lives and to learn tools for becoming a warm and supportive friend to ourselves.
We will learn how to bring these skills, mindfulness and loving kindness into your daily life to:
• Motivate ourselves with encouragement rather than with criticism.
• Handle mistakes and difficult emotions with greater ease.
• Use self-compassion to live our life more in accordance to our values.
• Manage caregiver fatigue – for health professionals and people caring for parents, children and others.
Mindful Self-Compassion – 10 Day Training Course is constructed with daily structured learning; daily spaces to evolve and hone the tools and skills being taught; as well as time to engage formally and more informally with New Life’s community and wider activities. Formal engagement here includes daily “mindfful working meditations”.
No experience of Mindfulness or Meditation is necessary to undertake this course. All are welcome!
