As health professionals, we hold and work with not only our own challenges but those of our patients and clients as well. When we can be centered and compassionate, it not only helps us but also ripples out to those with whom we work. The era of COVID-19 has posed special challenges that we will be processing for a long time to come.
In this workshop, you will learn about the “ingredients” of self-compassion, how it helps to cultivate courage and open-heartedness and alleviate self-criticism and shame, and how self-compassion is very different from laziness, narcissism, or making excuses for yourself. You will learn specific formal and informal practices to help you move toward increased confidence, kindness, and wisdom. You will experiment with how to acknowledge, understand, and even honor your “inner critic” without taking all of its messages to heart.
In addition to the eight meetings and half-day retreat that are generally a part of the MSC program, our series will include an optional ninth session for us to share ideas and experiences about how self-compassion relates specifically to our professional worlds.
I had hoped to offer a course in late Spring, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, this will be put off until Autumn of this year. Most likely we will start in mid-September. If you are a health or healing professional who is interested in the course, please feel free to contact me (telephone is best) and I can let you know when a date is scheduled.
My best wishes for your good health and equanimity during this time.
