An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday, repeating until April 27, 2022
In this 6-week Mindful Self-Compassion Short Course (with some modifications), participants will experience in this evidence-based program designed to cultivate self-kindness and improve well-being. Research shows that self-compassion significantly enhances emotional wellbeing (less anxiety and depression), boosts resilience, happiness, harmonious relationships, and can even help maintain healthy lifestyles such as healthy eating and exercise. Trans and Non-Binary individuals with high self-compassion report more positive identity and happiness, less self-stigma, and lower suicidality than those with low self-compassion. For many of us, self-criticism is a familiar driving force to do better and succeed. Yet, research shows the opposite: self-compassion is a much healthier and productive way to motivate ourselves.
This course is offered every Monday and Wednesday, 6-7:15 pm PST 4/11/22-4/27/22.
This course is being offered at a reduced rate ($25) in order to make MSC practices available to the trans community. The course is being co-offered by UCI Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and UCI’s Gender Diversity Program.
