Linda Graham, marriage and family therapist and MSC teacher, is collaborating with Ymke Dioquino, teacher of Mindfulness Based Dementia Care, to explore the integration of the MBDC protocol with MSC and vice versa. Any interested MSC teachers can contact Linda or Ymke directly (below).
Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care (MBDC) is an eight-week, group-based program designed for people who care for cognitively impaired individuals. MBDC integrates many practices of mindfulness and self-compassion along with tools drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help caregivers deal with the day-to-day realities of caring for a loved one with dementia. The goal is to improve the quality of life for both the care partner and the person living with dementia.
MBDC is housed by the non-profit, Presence Care Project, and maintained and updated by Laura Rice-Oeschger, LMSW and Ymkje Dioquino, LMFT. The Presence Care Project also offers professional MBDC facilitator training to clinicians. This training takes place via online live conferencing, in-person training retreats, and 1:1 online consultation with a lead teacher.
