Dr. Adrian Wan works at the Centre on Behavioral Health, The University of Hong Kong; he is a post-doctoral fellow, trainer, teaching staff, and a holistic health practitioner in Hong Kong. Adrian's clinical practice focuses primarily on psycho-oncology, mood disorders, adjustment difficulties, and caregiver support to family members of people with chronic medical/ psychiatric conditions.
His research interest lies in the application of mindfulness-based interventions to enhance holistic well-being of people with chronic medical / psychiatric conditions (such as cancer, schizophrenia, etc.), helping professionals and the general public. In addition, he is also interested in the application of the Eastern-inspired integrative body-mind-spirit approach. His works have been published in peer review journals, book chapters, textbooks, and being presented in numerous local, as well as international, conferences. He was awarded the Young Investigator Award by the Scientific Committee of the Hong Kong International Cancer Conference in 2011. In addition, his doctoral dissertation on the effectiveness of an 8-week MSC program in improving bio-psycho-social well-being of cancer survivors has received the Best Presentation Award from the Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong in 2018.
In recent years, Adrian has actively participated in the promotion of holistic well-being, self-compassion, and mindfulness as a way of living in the community. He conducts seminars, training programs for allied health professionals, as well as workshops for students in social work, medical and mental health professionals, the business sector, and the general public. At present, Adrian offers MSC 8-week program, MSC 5-day intensive program, as well as introductory seminars on self-compassion to help professionals, caregivers, students of social work, psychology, and counseling, and the general public in Hong Kong, to help them cope with the challenges they face in their work and personal life.
Individual psychotherapy utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and the Satir Model. In addition, I also offer group work and professional training utilizing the Integrative Body-Mind-Spirit approach, inspired by the wisdom of Eastern philosophies and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
