I am grounded by quiet walks at dawn, being close to water, music, singing - especially Celtic songs, dancing around the kitchen or on the dance floor to some old fashioned rock and roll, soulful visits and gatherings with family and friends, golden retrievers, and endless cups of tea. Many have conveyed that my presence evokes calm and my exchanges are filled with gentle compassion and a quiet strength. I do my best to embody the messages that I impart - messages of self care and self compassion as well as humanness!
As well innumerable and valuable life lessons, my contributions are influenced by a depth and breadth of learning and experiences. In addition to being a Certified Teacher of Mindful Self Compassion, I have attained a Certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Facilitation from the Centre for Mindfulness Studies. I have a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counselling from Boston University, Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation and an Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. I am a Registered Social Worker and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. In addition, I have completed a Life Coach training program. In the fields of primary health care and mental health recovery, I have fulfilled the roles of practitioner, counselor, mentor, trainer, teacher, leader and consultant. I have supported the development and delivery of recovery oriented practices, services, and organizations within community as well as institutional settings. I have created, launched and delivered training and education programs at the Masters, college and organizational levels, for practitioners as well as with peers. I have had the good fortune of making my contributions around the world including Scotland, Sweden, Singapore, the United States, as well as Canada.
Workshops on a range of Mindfulness topics including 'Mindfulness, Self Care and Self Compassion' and 'Easing Stress Through Mindfulness'. I also offer online private 'Mentoring Mindfulness' sessions.
