I am grateful to contribute to the realization of the Center for Mindful Self Compassion's Mission - "(T)o alleviate human suffering and improve the collective well-being of the planet through the practice of self-compassion"; as a Live Online Teacher Training MSC Teacher, a Live Online MSC Teacher, a Teacher Training Practicum Trainer, a Teachers in Training Zoom Consultation Host and a Circles of Practice Graduates and Public Host. I also offer the MSC Program through the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto, and within my role as a Mental Health Counselor. Many have conveyed that my presence evokes calm and my exchanges are filled with gentle compassion and a quiet strength. I do my best to embody the messages that I impart - messages of self compassion and self care, as well as humanness!
As someone who has lived and learned the importance of self compassion and self care, my mindfulness and self compassion practices include being grounded by: quiet beach walks at dawn, singing Celtic songs, dancing around the kitchen or on the dance floor to some old fashioned rock and roll, soulful visits and gatherings with family and friends, golden retrievers, and endless cups of tea.
As well innumerable and valuable life lessons, my contributions are influenced by a depth and breadth of learning and experiences. In addition to being a Certified Teacher of Mindful Self Compassion, I have attained a Certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Facilitation from the Centre for Mindfulness Studies. I have a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counselling from Boston University, Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. I am a Registered Social Worker and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. In addition, I have completed a Life Coach training program. In the fields of primary health care and mental health recovery, I have fulfilled the roles of practitioner, counselor, mentor, trainer, teacher, leader and consultant. I have supported the development and delivery of recovery oriented practices, services, and organizations within community as well as institutional settings. I have created, launched and delivered training and education programs at the Masters, college and organizational levels, for practitioners as well as with peers. I have had the good fortune of making my contributions around the world including Scotland, Sweden, Singapore, the United States, as well as Canada.
Workshops on a range of Mindfulness topics including 'Mindfulness, Self Care and Self Compassion' and 'Easing Stress Through Mindfulness'. I also offer online private 'Mentoring Mindfulness' sessions.
