Kathryn is an enthusiastic advocate of MSC having trained with Kristin Neff and supported Chris Germer during his Core Skills training. She is a founding volunteer senior teacher of the Global Circles of Practice, where she provides nourishing meditations and often thought-provoking reflections, weekly, on Wednesdays at 7am PT class.
She continues to develop her MSC knowledge and practice through her self-compassion book club, connecting with follow MSC teachers on the Teacher Cafe and by attending the latest trainings, such as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) training, which was very powerful and challenging!
For over a decade she has combined meditation, mindful awareness and therapeutic practices to create self-development programmes to inspire emotional health and well-being in schools, prison and in the community.
She now offers 121 'Compassion Consciousness Coaching' for all those with a strong desire to deepen their practice and to live a rich life of present moment awareness, personal liberation and joy. She is passionate about learning more and delights in absorbing wisdom and guidance from esteemed teachers at her self-compassion book club.
Kathryn offers regular mini retreats once a month, called Sacred Sundays. This is open to anyone looking to give themselves a generous moment of peace and comfort in this tumultuous world.
Kathryn is passionate about supporting graduates of MSC and offers a year-long programme called Keeping Your Practice Alive which nourishes a deep dive into self-compassion and invigorates one’s relationship with one’s practice.
Having suffered from chronic health challenges all her life, Kathryn has experienced the alchemical transformation that MSC can bring. Kathryn has been developing a programme specifically to support people who find it difficult to make friends with their body. This is why she has created a 6-month programme called Compassionate Body, to support people struggling to make peace with their body.
Kathryn is a member of the MSC UK Network, a graduate of Communities of Deepening Practice and the lead teacher for Kind Mind Academy and its graduate daily practice. She is the curator of Kind Mind's Annual celebration of World Kindness Day on November 13, where esteemed teachers such as Chris Germer, James Baraz, Nirmala Mehendale, Nimo and Galia Tyano Ronen join together to share the message of Kindness and self-Kindness.
She has been teaching meditation and self-inquiry since 2006, having qualified as a Journey™ Therapist with Brandon Bays, internationally acclaimed mind/body healing expert. She has trained children and teens in care, young offenders, students, teachers, senior leaders, corporate professionals and even prisoners. The extraordinary life-changing results of her Mindful Stress Management programme for men in prison demonstrates the potency of her compassionate teaching approach and the transformational qualities of meditation and self-inquiry.
She has supported organisations such as the Department for Education Victoria, Australia; Maroondah Plus 10 Schools, NHS England, the National Union of Teachers, Australian Independent Schools, the Institute of Education and The Museum of Happiness. She is an inspiring teacher having taught in mainstream secondary schools and in the community for over 20 years. Kathryn is the proud mum of two gorgeous young men Oliver & Dominic, a remarkable step-son James, lives with her inspirational partner and co-teacher Liz and cherishes every opportunity she has to spread the message of self-compassion. She fervently believes mindful self-compassion, having an attitude of gratitude and giving service is pivotal to mind-health, personal happiness and life satisfaction.
Kathryn dreams of a day where every child has a ‘Booster’ (compassionate voice) thriving within themselves, where they understand and have made friends with their ‘Crusher’ (critical voice) and where they are self-empowered to nurture themselves, tend to their needs and comfort their mind, body and heart in times of difficulty.
