Laurie Cousins has a B.A. in Psychology, is a mindfulness teacher, and integrative mind-body practitioner. She is highly trained and certified through both UCLA and UCSD mindfulness centers. Laurie enjoys being a lead teacher for Susan Kaiser Greenland’s Inner Kids program and has the privilege of bringing secular mindfulness into school for students, educators, and parents throughout the Los Angeles area. As a research associate at UCLA’s Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Program, she co-facilitates mindfulness-based cognitive therapy groups and co-created the Mindful Parent Support Study program. Laurie is the Family Program Advisor at the La Maida Institute in Los Angeles, where she has her private practice and is thrilled to serve adults and families through different programming that is rooted in integrative health, neuroscience, resiliency, compassion, and communal support. Laurie has found that deep healing is attained through self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-care and is passionate about helping people find freedom and authentic joy.
Laurie is a lover of nature and ardent about bringing compassionate awareness for our planet, animals, and humanity. She enjoys working at the Wolf-Connection, which is a non-profit rehabilitation animal sanctuary for wolves and wolf-dogs, that offers an empowerment youth program to help wolves and young people heal together.
