She is a Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) Certified Teacher as well as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Certified Teacher. She is currently doing a randomized controlled trial for online mindfulness and self-compassion at Kyoto University School of Medicine/Public Health ( http://ebmh.med.kyoto-u.ac.jp ) as a visiting researcher, and conducting network meta-analysis of the effects of psychotherapies with Oxford University while teaching MBSR and MSC at universities, healthcare institutions, and government agencies such as British Embassy and British Consulate-General. As the only and first MSC certified teacher who lives in Japan, she started teaching MSC in 2016, and co-taught MSC 2-day core skills training at Keio University School of Medicine in Japan with Steve Hickman, PsyD in 2017 and co-taught MSC 5-day intensive with Chris Germer, PhD in Kyoto in 2018.

She was born in Tokyo and is a certified clinical psychologist, previously working at Pediatric and Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) in Japan. She has also worked at Arthur Andersen as a senior management consultant for healthcare institutions, private companies and government in Japan. After moving to Boston, she completed her Master of Public Health at Harvard University, worked at the Institute for Professionalism & Ethical Practice at Children’s Hospital Boston, and later, as Quality Assurance Manager/Admin Director in Ob/Gyn at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital for clinical quality improvement & patient safety. Her lifelong passion for quality of patient family-centered interdisciplinary compassionate care for patients and clinicians is incorporated in her Japanese license as a clinical psychologist, educational and professional background.

Her life whilst living in Boston, Massachusetts, has given her ample opportunities to learn and practice mindfulness meditation from Larry Rosenberg and his fellow teachers at Center for Wellness and Health Promotion at Harvard University and Cambridge Insight Meditation Center.

She is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivor whose deep, painful, and ongoing journey for permanent disabilities and pain, and its process has been aided by mindfulness and self-compassion. TBI specialists at Harvard University encouraged her to continue to meditate for brain recovery throughout and she continues to benefit from their advice and this practice to this day.
