Trish Magyari, MS, CGC, MS, LCPC, NCC, RYT-200 is a mindfulness-and compassion-based psychotherapist in private practice. She is a Certified teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) as well as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Certified teacher/trainer, an MBSR Mentor with the UCSD MBPTI, a MMTCP mentor, a LifeForce yoga teacher, and a teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW), under Tara Brach. She has led a weekly mindfulness-and-compassion practice group for 10 years in Baltimore and lead 5-7 day Mindfulness and Self-compassion retreats. She herself has sat over 20 teacher-led silent retreats, including two six-week retreats, in 1996 and 2007.
Trish started meditating and practicing yoga as a college Freshman in 1975. Since then she has been drawn to teachers that emphasized compassionate aspects of practice. She began studying with Kristen Neff and Chris Germer in 2010, took the MSC 5-day intensive with Steve Hickman, Michelle Becker and David Spound, and the MSC teacher training with Kristen Neff, Chris Germer, Steve Hickman, Michelle Becker and Dawn McDonald. She has also recently studied Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) with Paul Gilbert and Dennis Tirsch. She was a consultation group mentor in the Self-compassion in Pschotherapy (SCIP) program through the CMSC.
Trish brings a compassionate and accessible approach to her teaching whether leading 8-week classes or mindfulness and compassion retreats. She has written two professional book chapters on trauma-informed mindfulness and specializes in helping those with PTSD, chronic pain, illness, anxiety, depression, disability, and grief/loss. Trish delights in helping others to increase their sense of wholeness and well-being in the world, and to find peace and self-contentment in the midst of life's joys and challenges.
