Meet Your Teacher
Rose Mina Munjee is a Certified Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion, highly experienced in teaching both online and in-person.
Rose Mina is also:
- Registered Psychotherapist in private practice.
- Certified mindfulness teacher and mentor, corporate trainer, and therapeutic yoga teacher.
- Teaches at institutions like Mindful Leader, Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, Centre for Mindfulness Studies, University of Toronto, and serves as Managing Director at Mindful Wellness.
- Facilitates evidence-based mindfulness programs: MBSR, MBCT, MSC.
- Teacher trainer, curriculum developer, and mentor with expertise in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and psychotherapy.
- Integrates relational, IFS, CBT, trauma-informed, social justice, and mindfulness approaches.
- Published in peer-reviewed journals and co-authoring a book on mindfulness, compassion, and social justice.
- Holds a Master’s in Spiritual Care and Buddhist Studies with Psychotherapy (University of Toronto) and is a PhD Candidate in Education (Researching Mindfulness and Compassion in Adult Education and Anti-Oppression) at Reading University, UK.

This workshop is suitable for everyone, including the general public, mental health and healthcare professionals, meditation and mindfulness instructors, yoga teachers, wellness coaches, and educators at all levels. Prerequisites Needed: None, all are welcome to attend.

- Describe the theory and research supporting mindful self-compassion
- Develop and apply self-compassion practices to motivate themselves with encouragement rather than self-criticism
- Assess and manage difficult situations and emotions with greater moment-to-moment acceptance

Weekly Topic Overview
Week 1 - Discovering Our Group
In this session, we will:
- Introduce ourselves to one another and orient ourselves to the program.
- Discover deeper intentions for learning MSC
- Begin to define what self-compassion is by reflecting on how you treat friends in moments of challenge.
Week 2 - Discovering Mindful Self-Compassion
In this session, we will:
- Learn what self-compassion is and what it isn’t.
- Become familiar with the link between self-compassion and wellbeing.
- Directly experience the comfort of self-compassion in the body and using language.
Week 3 - Practicing Mindfulness
In this session, we will:
- Warm up meditative awareness with affection and appreciation.
- Bring mindful awareness to present-moment experience.
- Understand how resistance causes suffering.
- Understand backdraft and how to deal with it using mindfulness techniques.
- Calm the mind by anchoring attention on a single object.
- Explore the meaning of mindfulness and self-compassion
Week 4 - Practicing Loving-Kindness
In this session, we will:
- Learn about the difference between loving-kindness and compassion.
- Evoke a felt-sense of loving-kindness and compassion.
- Find personal loving kindness phrases.
Week 5 - Discovering Your Compassionate Voice
In this session, we will:
- Practice loving-kindness meditation using our own authentic phrases.
- Reflect on the stages of progress and how MSC is going.
- Motivate ourselves with encouragement rather than criticism.
Week 6 - Living Deeply
In this session, we will:
- Practice breathing for oneself and others—“one for me, one for you.”
- Discover core values and learn to reorient to those values in daily life.
- Find hidden meaning in life difficulties.
- Practice compassion and self-compassion while listening to others.
Week 7 - 3hr Retreat
In this session, we will:
- Experience mindfulness and compassion as an integrated whole.
- Savor the experience of mindfulness and self-compassion.
- Discover the power of a silent meditation retreat.
Week 8 - Meeting Difficult Emotions
In this session, we will:
- Learn to meet difficult emotions using mindfulness and self-compassion practices.
- Understand and alleviate the impact of shame by using self-compassion as an antidote to shame.
Week 9 - Challenging Relationships
In this session, we will learn to:
- Meet unmet needs in relationships with self-compassion.
- Combine self-compassion and equanimity to manage caregiving fatigue.
Week 10 - Embracing Your Life
In this session, we will:
- Practice savoring, gratitude and self-appreciation to correct our innate negativity bias.
- Reflect on key insights and practices that each participant might like to remember after the course ends.

Our programs are designed to teach participants the tools needed to develop and cultivate a mindfulness and self-compassion practice.
It is not a substitute for mental health care, personal therapy or medical treatment.
