October 20 - December 22, 2025
This course meets every Monday, 8:00 -10:00 am PT (with a 3-hour online retreat on December 1st, from 8am - 11am PT). Click here to view the Time Conversion Chart.
This course includes weekly sessions of 2.5 hours each, in addition to the 3-hour retreat.
This is the same 10-week LOMSC program course covering 95% of the typical MSC content. What’s different? You’ll join a cohort made up entirely of mental health professionals. The shared professional understanding enhances dialogue, reflection, and application in ways that enrich both personal well-being and clinical practice.
This program is offered in response to the demand for accessibility for mental health professionals, not only to meet the prerequisite requirement for Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP), but also provides necessary tools to enhance an understanding of the role of self-compassion in the practice of counseling and psychotherapy.
Meet Your Teacher
Jorge Armesto is a Certified Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion; highly experienced in teaching both online and in-person.
Jorge Armesto is also a bilingual clinical psychologist and yoga therapist in private practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where he serves linguistically and culturally diverse communities. Jorge is passionate about the intersection of psychology, mindfulness, spirituality, and body-focused practices. Working from a Buddhist psychology and compassion-focused perspective, his work seeks to understand how multiple sources of oppression and resiliency intersect and inform the lived experiences of people. Jorge believes that listening to our body's wisdom is essential in promoting overall health.
In addition to his clinical work, Jorge teaches mindfulness-based classes, facilitates psychoeducational and therapy groups, and provides clinical supervision to mental health professionals. He is a Certified Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher, section faculty at the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy (IMP) certificate program, consulting psychologist at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts, and small group facilitator in the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) Certificate Program.
Jorge’s spiritual practice focuses on applying Dharma teachings to help alleviate individual and community suffering. He practices in the Thich Nhat Hanh (Plum Village) tradition of engaged Buddhism and is a member of the Order of Interbeing. There are many ways that Jorge cultivates seeds of joy including cooking, dancing to the Afro-Cuban rhythms of salsa, building community, and weaving. Above all, Jorge loves spending time with his husband, children, and friends.
