Sharon Shelton (She/Her) discovered meditation when in early recovery from alcoholism in 1997 and has been studying and practicing ever since, beginning with transcendental meditation and now Vipassana for almost 15 years. She offers dharma talks at the Triangle Insight Meditation Community in Durham, North Carolina.
Sharon is a Founding Advisor and Mindfulness Teacher at Cloud Sangha (cloudsangha.co) and a member of the Teaching Council along with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She is also a Mentor in the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (https://mmtcp.soundstrue.com/), and serves on the Board at Peace at Any Pace (https://www.peaceatanypace.org/).
Sharon has been certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) for over 15yrs and coaches both individuals and groups. She also has decades of experience working for Fortune 100 companies, small technology start-ups and nonprofit organizations, most recently serving as Vice President of a global software company for 12yrs.
Sharon completed the first cohort of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP), is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher (CMT-P), and a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA). She received transmission of the Three Jewels and the Five Mindfulness Trainings in 2013 from her teacher Cheri Maples, and participated in the Community Dharma Leaders Program (CDL6) at Spirit Rock before it was interrupted by COVID.
In 2008, Sharon attended the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in NYC, receiving ordination, and then serving as assistant dean. Over the course of two years, the seminary provided an inter-spiritual framework to explore religious traditions, deepen spiritual practice, and learn how to develop authentic communities.
Sharon also periodically teaches in the Business Plan & Entrepreneurial Support Program, a multi-week program designed to support and mentor business owners in collaboration with SCORE and Shaw University.
Sharon is a native New Yorker and currently lives in Cary, NC with her wife Dr. Michelle Bailey.
